The
"Scarzuola"
It seems that in 1218 S. Francesco d’Assisi lived here in a hut made of
scarsa (a palustrine plant from which derives the name Scarzuola).
Today the Scarzuola is a charming place that has been transformed by the
Architect Tommaso Buzzi from Milan, who bought the convent in 1957 in
order to build his “ideal city”.
The Buzziana semms just a profane city, full of references and citations

Pienza
and the D'Orcia Valley
Pienza is the city of Pio II who gave it its name, thanks to its art treasures.
It is one of the most important cities of the province of Siena.
Pio II wanted to turn his Pienza (Corsignano) from a small medieval village
into a typical rinascimental papal residence.

Orvieto
The city of Orvieto, in symbiosis with the tuff cliff on which it has
been built, is an exceptional example of deep integration between nature
and men.
This relationship between nature and architecture is explicit, as the
inscription on the famous sink of S. Patrizio affirms: “quod nature munimento
inviderat industria adiecit" (“What nature had denied for the
defense - in this case the water - the human activity added”...

From Città della Pieve to Cortona
Città della Pieve
This picturesque medieval village is situated on a hill dominating the
Valdichiana and the Trasimeno lake. It's worth visiting the Cathedral,
with its collection of art, the Church and the S. Maria dei Banchi Oratory
with the works of Perugino and Pomarancio, the Priori Palace, the Corgna
Palace with its frescoes by Pomarancio, the house of the Perugino, the
Church of S. Agostino...
